While the cost of attending DCA ($22,000 per Cadet) is funded by the federal government, there are additional costs associated with the student experience. For example, while Cadets are in residence, they learn civic responsibility, community engagement and citizenship through field trips. Motivational speakers, leadership workshops and other experiential learning opportunities help build character and lead to enhanced self-improvement and well-being. These opportunities complement the academic component, creating a student experience that empowers students to achieve their full potential. In addition, at DCA, we want our program to be accessible to all eligible students, and we know that the minimal costs for uniform compliance may deter some students from applying. Gifts to the DCA Foundation help offset the costs for those in need of assistance for these items or transitional housing upon graduation. Foundation funds are never used for operational or staffing expenses.
